Welcome to the website, I hope you enjoy your stay! This site's mostly for personal purposes as I find stuff worth posting. This home page will contain items of general interest blogged as I see fit, and the links on the left will eventually all start working. Eventually. This is probably the most interesting page on the site so enjoy it!

OK, so the latest Nvida Drivers appear to help majorly with the flickering issue in Windows 7. Still happens with firefox, but not nearly as bad as before. Just FYI.

Windows 7 Screen Flicker Fix

VMWare, Crystal Reports, Firefox, and others

Posted by Michichael on Thursday February 11, 2010 11:51 am

If you don't know what I'm talking about here, you probably don't use Windows 7 with VMWare or Firefox. There are a few things that freak windows 7 out, and the VMWare vSphere client is one of them - having it open will subject you to massive full screen redraws, artifacting, and screen flickering - seemingly at random, but often when the program is starting up or you are in the middle of something critical and forgot that it was open, so it freaks out the whole OS.

So far, the only solution has been to disable Aero entirely, which is the root of the problem - some may make the argument that Aero isn't a necessary business component but DAMNIT I LIKE MY EYE CANDY. I crashed out of a very important document as a result of this today and that was the last straw. I vowed to fix it. Imagine my surprise when I did it on the first try.

"But what did you do?!" you cry? Easy - compatibility mode > Disable visual themes.

You see, if you disable desktop composition, which is the "Aero" setting, it turns it off for the entire desktop while the program is running. Not ideal! However, if you disable visual themses in compatibility mode, you're set to go! Here's how you go about doing that..

  1. Right click on your program.
  2. Select properties.
  3. Select the"Compatibility" tab.
  4. Check the box next to "Disable visual themes"
  5. Click OK.
Just restart the program and boom! All fixed. If anyone has any questions, feel free to drop me a line below. :)

Dante's Inferno Password Hunt

www.hellisnigh.com Passwords

Posted by Michichael on Wednesday February 03, 2010 2:57 pm

So the crew at Dante's inferno has decided to have another brilliant advertising idea and got webmasters to put in some cool ASCII art on various websites. These websites included passwords to a promotional website, http://www.hellisnigh.com

Sorry EA, I'm going to hell 'cause I cheat. So is everyone else. Did you honestly expect the internet to play fair? Here's a list of passwords (though I do recommend going to the source'd sites to view the cool artwork).

Password1: excommunicate (http://www.digg.com)
Password2: scythe (http://www.dailymotion.com)
Password3: grafter (http://www.gamespot.com)
Password4: styx (http://www.ign.com)
Password5: unbaptized (http://www.gamesradar.com)
Password6: alighieri (http://www.wwe.com)

So there you have it folks! Go get your earthly rewards! This allows you to download a zip file titled "earthly_rewards_dantes_inferno.zip" from their website. I'm not sure how big it is - yet - since it's still downloading (34MB at the time of writing).

After all, why not? Furries are going to hell anyway, right? >:)

P.S. No I didn't find all of these by myself. I found three of them, 1 3 and 6 by myself. Rest I jacked from digg - thread here.

Update: Site's down! In the middle of my download!

Scratch that! It's done - 131 MB! Wow... And no, not telling you what it is :)
