This section is where all of my personal rants, raves, or other posts go! I'll be using this now instead of http://michichael.livejournal.com, where you can find all of my old stuff! As a sidenote about this section, the contents here-in are all my extremely biased opinion. It's not meant to be a reference towards any of the people mentioned, as the writings are skewed by my emotions, if any, at the time. So get offended and get the fuck over it. It's my goddamned blog, and I don't give a fuck who I offend in writing my honest goddamned feelings.
Been a while...
Posted by Michichael on Monday June 15, 2009 5:29 pmWhelp, it's been a while since I've posted here. I think the last time I posted was when I was still in the middle of the whole Taren fiasco. That's mostly done with - we've both moved on, so I probably won't be making mention of it again... Anyway on to other things in life. I'm currently working on a major network architectural design for our new facility down in Mexico. I'm really looking forward to being part of the architecture for the site, as it will probably net me a well-earned promotion and maybe bring my pay up in line with what I'm worth. Right now, I'm earning roughly the same amount of money as a desktop support technician, and I'm also on the team spearheading the technical aspect of a corporate infrastructure consolidation, as well as a new facility in Mexico - I'm doing network architecture and engineering, information security, and all sorts of other things far outside my job title of Systems Administrator, and they're paying me the same as your standard Help Desk monkey. I've got my surgery coming up soon, and they've at least agreed to allow me to work from home for the duration of it. My surgery, for those curious enough to be in this section of my website, involves removing scar tissue that is continuously ripping and re-healing, posing a risk for infection, not to mention being quite painful! It'll put me out of work for at least a week, with another 2 involved for healing, but I'll hopefully be working from home for that period, since I don't have money saved up. The wage freeze has seriously murdered my savings, as well as BoA's little "Let's jack everyone's credit card rates up if they use them!" plan. Such is life! As for happier thoughts, my boss did reassure me that I'm not just hanging around for nothing. It's too much to hope for that they bring my pay up to the actual value of my work, but I'm hoping they'll get it at least a reasonable value considering the job market, how in-demand my skill set is, and the cost of living. Also, I've been working towards the "Insane in the Membrane" achievement on WoW. It's tough going, but it's something to focus on and concentrate towards. I'm in a decent raiding guild, but my schedule doesn't allow me to catch their raids most of the time. The cats are doing well - I got them a new toy that they're going nutters over: a mouse that I fill with catnip. As for my comic, I'm working on storyline and plot, character development, etc. We'll see where this goes. :)
